What' bad is there's only $840 difference in price, with the 1500 being slightly cheaper.

My first instinct was to say 1500, but for that money, I think I would have to have a 2500 MC. However, isn't the reason you are tired of the Power Wagon basically that its a 2500? I mean rough ride, lower mpg, etc.

myoung84
04-02-2014, 01:17 PM
Yes and no. A modified PW, low gears, big tires, stiff suspension, etc is why I'm really tired of it, at least for a truck that spends all of it's time on pavement. A new 2500 with stock size tires, new front and rear suspension, and more efficient engine and gearing solves these problems. I'd get into a roomier truck with softer ride and at least 15 MPG highway, or better from what I'm reading. That's a step in the right direction. I also compared the weight of the two trucks with the info on the Ram body builders guide and the 2500 Mega is only 1300 lbs heavier. That's pretty impressive.

The 1500 would do everything I want to do but I just have a feeling that I'd regret not getting the Mega...

Figuring the price for 87 octane vs diesel and 15 MPG vs 25 MPG, the Mega would be about $1000 more per year in fuel for 12k mile per year.

I know the eco seems like a good deal but there has been some kick back about it.. I know it wasn't made for performance but intended for gas mileage but people are saying it has no balls what so ever.. and that the price off set for the better mileage savings you would have to have the truck for 12 years to break even on fuel savings cost.. Granted that diesel prices don't sky rocket like they have up here in NY and PA. $4.80 per gallon for diesel..... Which is why I didn't even consider the eco after some digging.

the 2500's ride a lot better then the 12 model. Have you test drove one yet Morgan? I think the mega is rated lower HP then the CC 6.4L I've read that it's reduced to 390 HP on the mega cab.. Don't quote me but I found a few articles on it. Not that it really matter anyway.

I'd say stick with a 1500 Hemi or go with the Mega 6.4L!

myoung84
04-02-2014, 01:36 PM
Yes, I've driven two actually, but they were crew cab and not Mega. I was impressed with the ride quality.

Only the 3500 Mega is rated lower, and I think they just lowered the rev limiter to meet some noise level BS or something. Power up to that point would be the same. The 2500 gets the full 410 HP. I wish they would show the torque curves on the 5.7 and 6.4. From what I could tell in a short test drive, the 6.4 had a lot better low end power. If I could pull 16 MPG in a Mega on the highway I'd be stoked. The Jeep only gets about 18. LOL

I think I'm just getting old and want a vehicle that I can leave stock.

I think the ecodiesel has plenty of balls. Enough to pass easily on the highway and it gets up to speeds quick enough. The engine just doesn't make the typical roar when you step on it. Sounds like a gasser IMO. I haven't towed yet with it but I will soon. I am sure it will pull fine for what I need.

Not trying to bash it and I don't like to make statements until I do my own research about items before I make myself look like an ass lol.

I've just been reading blogs about it and following a few owners of the eco's postings but a lot of people have been giving negative feed back on the power... But then again some people were probably thinking they were going to get the power of a Cummins motor and didn't really understand the reason for the 1500 eco release.

I'm hoping I get to test drive one when they arrive on some dealer lots so I can at least have the chance to try it out. I do think it is an awesome offer from RAM to get a 1500 diesel. But like stated with diesel fuel at a super high I wasn't considering it due to the wide timeline of making money back for better fuel economy to offset the price of the actual truck.

Our diesel prices aren't too bad lately. 89 is about 3.50 and diesel is 3.60. Pretty much a wash on fill up.

BMRbrnSNRbrd

That's a very nice work area. Are you building more storage into other areas of the basement?

0212353
04-05-2014, 10:13 AM
a LOT more

There is another 15ft of shelving units going in between the "work" area and where we are putting in a pantry and bathroom. Then on the other side of the steps (steps come down on the wall where the workbench is) - there will be another 2 units in a big L - that is.....20 ft for one, and 15 for another (ish). Then the entire side wall will be shelving for the family shit. LOL

This was phase 1 of.......4. Bathroom and pantry are next. Then the 15ft between them, then the other 2 shelving areas are last phase.

What do you guys think about the Outdoorsman model? I still haven't ruled out the Diesel option, which you cannot get in the Sport model. It would need new wheels and tires and black projector headlights, but otherwise I like it. I don't get the nicer all black interior or push button start like the Sport or Laramie, but I don't think the gray/black looks bad at all and I can live with the old fashion keys. I can always get the Laramie diesel but it's another $5k on top of the Outdoorsman, which is more than I want to spend. The Laramie also has a bit too much chrome for me. The chrome bumpers on the monotone Outdoorsman don't bother me and I could probably get them powder coated to match. Leather isn't a big deal either. $800 for some Katskin seats solves that problem.

I think its a great start. I think if I were to go look now....I'd probably start with an Outdoorsman.

You can get them monotone too......which to me would be the way to go. No chrome bumpers then, you get the flares, etc.

myoung84
04-14-2014, 10:51 AM
That one I posted was monotone. With monotone you get body color flares and chrome bumpers. With the two tone you get painted bumpers. Here's the two-tone.

Crunched some numbers and in my situation, it would take 3.7 years to break even on a diesel figuring today's fuel prices and 17 mpg for a Hemi and 25 mpg for a diesel along with the maintenance and DEF. I can't guarantee that I'll have this truck in 3.7 years. LOL. If I did get the diesel it would be because I wanted it not because it made financial sense.

I'm also not crazy about a diesel with my driving habits. The truck gets driven 5 miles round trip in the mornings to drop the kiddo off at daycare and then I'm back in the company car. I'll typically drive the truck once a week to work just because, which would become more mandatory if we don't take a weekend trip so it could re-gen... I think I'll stick to the Hemi...

Here's the spreadsheet if anyone's interested.

0212353
04-17-2014, 08:05 AM
yeah, Raceland. Who knows why it won't open.

For a while, it was stuck open, the remote would work 20% of the time. I got another one, replaced the controller / remote, all was fine for a bit. Now.........who the hell knows. LOL - figure, I've got a spare, wtf, I'll throw it on.

0212353
04-17-2014, 07:14 PM
stupid cutout........

wasn't frozen up. Evidently the controller is bad now. After I swapped the main unit. Had to cut off the fuckin' clamps too. LOL weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

BMRbrnSNRbrd
04-21-2014, 07:57 AM
Been there, done it. I got lucky and found a guy with a used main unit to grab the motor out of. Then, Raceland cut me a deal on a new controller.

Just wanted to say that I'm sorry I haven't been around much and the site is slow. Between the new bike and the little truck, the Ram is getting neglected. Also, after the body work and paint that had to be done on the hood, paint issues just deter my interest further. Hell, I've barely washed it lately other than spraying it off at a car wash.

0212353
04-21-2014, 08:07 AM
Paint issues? Hood? What did I miss?

Here's what my truck did to me yesterday....

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f210/0212353/Bucket2/20140420_170629_zps41363231.jpg

Driving along, she's TRUCKING it! I was like.......why is it when I let off, she's just gaining speed? LOL WEEEEE. Pulled into a parking lot, in neutral she shot up to 3K RPM pretty quick. Shut it off......detuned.....didn't know where to start. Popped hood, didn't see anything at first..........drove home (5 miles) - posted up on FB - 10 minutes later, done. Derrrrr. LOL

BMRbrnSNRbrd
04-21-2014, 01:52 PM
I didn't really post about it at all. Basically there was ice, I was driving a buddy home, and at 15 miles per hour, I slid through a corner (wheel locked to the right) and hit a small mailbox. It dented and scratched the hood and front left fender. The fender looks good, but the hood just isn't up to my standard.

Eco, eh? impressed enough to change from the hemi?

myoung84
04-23-2014, 03:29 PM

myoung84
04-23-2014, 04:21 PM
Dealer won't deal. There supposedly aren't any rebates on the diesel and they want to sell it to me for invoice plus $200. Not going to work. Then they want to bend me over the desk on trade...

04-23-2014, 05:28 PM

0212353
04-23-2014, 08:21 PM
details!

myoung84
04-23-2014, 09:52 PM
You can have details in 6-10 weeks! Haha.

Just kidding. Went with a monotone granite Outdoorsman, Hemi, 4x4, and 6' bed. Only options I added were comfort group (heated steering wheel and seats), backup cam, center console, 8.4AN, and trailer brake controller. 3.92 gears, LSD, and remote start are standard. Didn't add the extras like rambox, sunroof, air suspension, etc.

Typical car buying transaction, told them I wasn't in a hurry but would like to see what they can do. I honestly wasn't expecting to buy a new truck today, just wanted to look at the SLT interior more than anything. They had just gotten a 2wd Laramie diesel in and we're eager for me to test drive it. Sure I said! I was really impressed but the numbers just didn't work out. There are no rebates available (despite the Ram website saying so) and the price ended up being about $6k more. Not worth it for me. If it would have been just the $2850 for the engine adder I would have ordered it.

So I rejected the diesel option since I knew we would be too far off and settled on the Hemi. I sent the poor salesman back about 5 times and they finally gave me an offer I was happy with. Ended up with about $8k off sticker and $33k trade in. Trade is a bit low still but that's honestly a fair deal. I still have 8 or so weeks to sell it though. Everything except the wheels and tires are coming off the power wagon. Glad I save my stock parts! All in all, I won't come out too bad.

So, now we wait...

(S.M.R) 101
04-23-2014, 10:47 PM
That's awesome Morgan! Glad you were able to get something you wanted man. I can't wait to see this bad boy.

I was glad I got the 32k for my truck.. They nickel and dime'd me but I didn't want to out right sale... Was looking to get out of it fast! lol

Congrats man. So you're pulling the whole carli kit off?

BMRbrnSNRbrd
04-24-2014, 07:10 AM
Congrats Morgan! I like that when you order you can get "trade-in" but still have the ability to sell your truck outright. If you sell it, great! If not, not a huge deal.

myoung84
04-24-2014, 07:36 AM
Yep, I really like this method. I don't think I'll be able to not order my vehicles now. It's just seems like the best way to go. You get exactly what you want and don't have to worry about what's been done to it on the dealers lot. I beat the shit out of that diesel and the salesman was telling me to go harder. Lol.

And everything is coming off the truck except the wheels and tires. I'll replace the lift Springs with a spacer so the tires fit and I've already ordered a used etc of quads from Jeremy to replace the headlights.

0212353
04-24-2014, 07:54 AM

Any of you local guys want to swap stock dash parts for my diamond plate dash? Has to be a model without the center console. Have the center stack and both A/C vents.

I hate Craigslist sometimes. Get a text from a local number asking about the truck. Here's our conversation.

Him: Hi I'm asking about your truck for sell

Me: What can I help you with? Feel free to give me a call

Him: I don't have calling min. LOL well its just a quick question. I'm 17 and I don't have money. I'm Jw if you'd trade..?

Me: No, I can't take trades. Sorry.

Him: Dang. Well how much were you wanting?

Me: I'd go down to $39k like it's pictured. If I were to return to stock I could do $36k.

Him: Well crap I really need a truck LOL. If you only traded or took payments.

Me: A bank would be able to loan the money.

Him: I can't get loans I'm only 17. But thanks anyways.

Me: You'd have to have a cosigner. Do you have income to support a $40k vehicle?

Him. I have two jobs. I do have money for the gas and stuff just not 40k to buy one now lol

Me: Cool man. If you're able to have a parent or someone cosign we could certainly make a deal. I have to have the full amount up front though.

And no reply... LOL

So he's 17, has no money but wants a $40k, 10 MPG truck? At least he works, I'll give him that. I can just see him asking grandma to cosign for him. :roflsquared:

And what does he have for trade that he feels is equal? I don't really want his Civic. Haha

0212353
05-05-2014, 11:06 AM
dude, I know.

I don't run around in the dark much, and hell........I ran stocker '13s for a while (no HIDs), it was when I went from those to quads (funny, the ones you got) - I didn't last 2 weeks before I retro'd some '13s for the truck. Couldn't take it! Now........I just won't do it. These FXRs with 50W...........holy fn nuts man. So amazing!

myoung84

This definitely reconfirms my decision to do the full FXR swap!

0212353

there is nothing comparable, for the Rams anyway. Just.........the best. I see guys who want to put $$ upon $$ into freakin' halos and shit. Dude........toss that $200+ towards the projector, and BOOM........output for days man!

BMRbrnSNRbrd
05-06-2014, 07:09 AM
Jeremy, what are the measurements for an FXR with the smallest shroud available?

0212353
05-06-2014, 08:38 AM
Here's the specs on the projector itself

DIMENSIONS
Depth (2.5" lens):140mm (5.50" in)
Depth (3.0" lens):155mm (6.10" in)
Width:112mm (4.35 in)
Height:95mm (3.75 in)

For shrouds.......the fun part is finding one that covers it, and at the same time.......doesn't look chummy.

I know the original Apollo will cover it, here's the sizes on that:
DIMENSIONS:
Height:125mm (5 inches)
Width:125mm (5 inches)
Depth:45mm (1.8 inches)

The E46-R might fit, but there really isn't much to that shroud.

DIMENSIONS:
Height:108mm (4.3 inches)
Width:135mm (5.4 inches)
Depth:37mm (1.5 inches)

That kinda gives you an idea. Keep in mind, the lens will stick out further than the shrouds.

Thinking of the bike?

House mods. Lol.

Needed a play room downstairs since somebody invaded the living room. We have (had) a formal dining a day a big breakfast nook with a 2nd table and hutch (not sure why). So, the nice furniture was moved to the nook and the rest gotten rid of. Then I ordered 110 Sq Ft of play mat for an awesome play room. I think it all turned out great. They shorted me the purple borders though so it's not 100% done just yet...

Our formal dining room ......... well, she's bare right now! LOL 2 boxes, and a robot vacuum occupy that space right now. Still shopping for a dining room set. Won't get used much........but...........yeah.

myoung84
05-11-2014, 11:01 AM
We used the formal dining about 3 times a year and the breakfast nook with the smaller dining set was just a crap collector, so it's not like I really lost a room doing this. These tiles are expensive though, that's $250 there. Lol

yeah, we had a few of those in our old basement........before one of our sewer backups. costly f'ers..........but neat. I have a few now that ddn't get messed up - I use 'em when working under the truck. lol

Which brings be to another Craigslist rant. Supposed to meet this guy to sell my old TV today and he finally calls me at 8 asking to meet at 9. Why are dealers so retarded? I was looking on the USAA website and saw that I was eligible for an additional $1000 rebate. I call the dealer to get the code added to my order and they tell me they won't honor it because it's illegal. He goes of on some crap about brokering and shit. Call up USAA again and they have no idea what the hell this guy is talking about. They give me the Chrysler Incentives number and I call them. They are shocked as well and tell me that my truck is eligible and it's not illegal. It really pisses me off that the dealers don't want to help you. He wouldn't even shut up long enough for me to tell him that it's an incentive offered through Chrysler for USAA members. It's not even money out of their pocket, it's fully funded by Chrysler...

But good news, I get another $1000 off my truck!

so we have decided that we are going to redo our storage in the new master closet.......and the kitchen pantry.

holy fack.......that crap is $$

LOL

Almost 3grand into this crap! (now, that is all sorts of fany shit from the container store, and included installation). Can't design what I want online.........our closet isn't "square" buttheads...

myoung84
05-14-2014, 09:31 AM
Damn! Closet shit is expensive!

When we did the baby's room I used the Martha Stewart closet stuff from Home Depot. It turned out really good and there's a lot of adjustability. This was just a reach in closet so it wasn't too expensive. I've been planning on re-doing the master as well and It's close to a grand just for the parts. It's super easy to install though. You have a metal support that you anchor to the wall and everything hangs off of that.

You can design everything online and pick up at Home Depot which is great. Not sure how complex you can get though with odd shaped closets. Ours is just a basic rectangle closet.

check out the plans here:

pantry - http://www.containerstore.com/elfa/space/view.htm?spaceId=2853448&email_id=12666048

I'll check out jailbird's stuff there too.

I just did some closet type shelving in the garage a few weeks ago. I think it was the rubbermaid stuff, and it was ........ cheap, in the sense of flimyness. This stuff didn't feel that way, but it was also.........a shitload of $$. LOL

myoung84
05-14-2014, 11:22 AM

no shit............makes things really fun!

We actually went to the store last night, gave her the dimensions, etc and they designed it for us.

Not finding too much on the martha stewart one that really looks "ok". Found another place that allows for a LOT of customization, prices aren't bad yet either. Still designing. ;)

Thoughts on 5% window tint? I'm considering darker tint on the new truck...

(S.M.R) 101
05-14-2014, 11:57 PM
After running 5% on every truck leading up to the 2500, I just run factory match. It was such a bitch to see at night without rolling down every window.... And the cops started messing with me.

They still take a second look at the truck with factory tint.... But isn't OK pretty cool about window tint? I know it depends on the cop but up here if they see it 9 times out of 10 they are pulling you over for it.

I had factory match tint put on Emily's vue 2 times now.. she's been stopped twice and given a fix it ticket... We go down to the tint guy (personal friend) have him remove it, drive to the police station have them inspect to make sure it was removed, then right back up to the tint shop to have tint put back on.

I always tell them to just give me the ticket and i'll pay the fines.

myoung84
05-15-2014, 07:42 AM
What a pain in the ass! OK seems to be pretty cool. I've always run 15% front windows to match the back and never had a problem. I at least wanted the back windows done a little darker to block the sun out of the kiddos eyes rather than it up those stupid sun shade stick on things.

0212353

That will look really good and should keep that heat and sun out. If I lived back in OK I would run 5 to 10% just because of the heat and sun... But the fact that we only have 90 degree weather for 3 to 4 months a year, factory match works perfect for me. I would love to do 10% all the way around though.

In the mood to fight today. LOL

I asked the dealer that I bought my PW from on the status of my warranty and gap cancellation. All they will ever tell me is it takes 6-8 weeks. Here's my email to him today. Haha. They are holding up $1500 of my money that needs to be credited to my lien... I'll likely take delivery of the new truck before this gets resolved. And because of this, I will never purchase a warranty though a dealer again...

I'm very frustrated with this entire situation. I called Fidelity Warranty Services two weeks ago and the cancellation process does not take 6-8 weeks. They are as stunned as I am as to why this is taking so long to receive the cancellation request from your dealership. Due to the circumstances, I took it upon myself to fax in a cancellation request and it was cancelled the very next day. If this would have been done a month ago as I requested, my lien holder would have already been reimbursed. I'm not sure why you are dragging your feet on this. If I didn't take it upon myself to submit the cancellation request directly with Fidelity Warranty Services, it STILL would not be cancelled. As of today, they have received NOTHING from your dealership.

Who else can I speak with that will give me some accurate information? It seems that the only thing Barry Sanders has done is tell me to wait 6-8 weeks. I have attached the cancellation documents dated 5/6/14 and 5/7/14. I need a reimbursement processed immediately for both policies.

Just for my own personal trial I threw the HID's in without the bypass and it was strobe light party on the block. Threw in the bypass and boom! no flickering. I grew impatient with my contractor (well, thats been there for.............2 months now, dude is fucking making me MAD)........

Original shop plans where to build a LOT more shelves........and a bathroom. After working in it for 10 weeks now, f the bathroom.

We were going to put up wood shelves, to match the ones we already have. But, screw it. Home Depot had shelving units on sale for $80.....so I got 6 to start. Didn't get them all put up, had other shit to do........but yeah. not exactly what I wanted, but......I'm sick and tired of waiting on the contractor.....

Each are 24" deep, 4ft wide, 6ft tall.

Can you have one of the fence height sheds? They have the rubbermaid ones that are only 6' tall.

The Power Wagon is up for sale on the dealers site. Still no price or pics listed. I had an online chat with them and they are asking $36,999.

Working out the truck already with 600 miles on the clock. Had a towable demo unit come in and I took it to get it cleaned up and put a little propane in the tank. This little guy weighs about 7200 lbs. It squats the truck about 3“ but I'm very impressed with how well the truck pulls it. The 8 speed and 3.92s are great! I had no problem keeping it at 70 on the highway. I have airbags coming in today so that will help a lot. I'll be dragging this thing around a little for the next couple weeks so I'll have more feedback soon. The built in brake controller seems to work pretty well.

fack, I dunno. LOL

If all goes as I want it too........I'm going to give myself all day to get there. Its a 10 hour drive....I'd probably leave STL around 7AM (cuz......thats how I roll?) 6 hours to Tulsa I think?

0212353
07-11-2014, 09:22 PM

You are correct sir. Tulsa would be out of your way.

0212353

doesn't look like that far.........and one of the reasons I'm not in a hurry to get down there.

I do want to see if I can meet up with some people on the trip, but I also know that being that its during the week, that might be more fun...

myoung84
07-14-2014, 09:33 PM
You happen to have any fogs that could be tinted up real quick? Lol

I tried Lamin-x precut film and it fit like crap. The cut was really good on my 2012 but these new lights were horrible. Finally got pissed and ripped them off.

0212353
07-15-2014, 12:10 AM
man, I've got my painter working OT.......and then some. wonder why the laminx didn't work? the fogs are flat? get a roll....cut yourself?

myoung84
07-15-2014, 11:35 AM
The Lamin-x stuck just fine but they just aren't quite big enough. No matter how you put it on, you can see bare light and it looked like crap. I'll probably get some larger chunks, pull the lights, and do a custom cut.

Do you know how bad are the fogs to remove?

0212353
07-15-2014, 11:36 AM
3 bolts and they come right out man.

I was under a 14 Saturday, not a bad setup on that now.

myoung84
07-15-2014, 11:43 AM
Cool. I'll just do that then. I really don't need the fogs, so it doesn't matter what I do with them. Some little matchbox projectors with some color matching would look good, but it's a little over the top for me...

0212353
07-16-2014, 03:55 PM

seriously thinking of extending the trip by a day.....and running to Houston on Wed morning. Spend some time with a few dudes that afternoon / evening - then roll back home Thursday from Houston........

If I do, I'll be able to meet a competitor, which - would be neat. kinda like the idea of that, seeing another pro - meeting of the minds, etc. But.....it would be another $100 in gas, another $150 in hotel (assumed) and would add 8-9 more hours of driving.

I mean......shit, the truck has 24,300 miles now. In 3-4 days I might put 1600 on it. LOL

myoung84
07-16-2014, 04:20 PM
I'd do it! Be a nice little trip.

Going high tech for this year's Christmas lights! Two 30A 12V power supplies with a 16 channel controller powering about 250' of LED color changing lights. This includes lighting 100' of roof line and an 8' tree! Not doing anything with music this year, but probably will next year. Gotta start sequencing that in June. Lol. I've already got a pretty neat non-music 20 minute show ready to go that will be put on repeat. Still waiting on my lights to come in from Hong Kong...

I here you Al,

Between getting married and buying a house the truck has just been of no importance for me over the last several months. Once this stupid winter goes away I will be able to start doing stuff in my nice huge garage!

0212353
03-08-2015, 06:30 PM
bought the wife another van in early Dec.....my business bought the van we had.....and the truck has left the garage 4 times for a total of 40 miles since. Reminds me, I need to plug it in if I want her to start next time I take her out........

In the middle of all of that, I ripped her eyes out, sold them to someone else.......and she's on stock heads. BLEH.
