Saturday evening project: Garage shelves

The previous owner of my house was a severly amateur DIY guy...you should have seen the way he did some of the things around here that my dad and I fixed when I first bought and remodeled this place. On top of that, he was apparently cheap as well. Anyway, here is the only shelving that was in my garage when I bought the house:

How do you like the shelf brackets installed on the wrong side (look to the left side, on top of the shelf)? How about the support bracked mounted to the ceiling out of three different pieces of wood? Anyway, I bought two 2x12x12 pieces of wood and six good shelf brackets (rated at 550 lbs) from Home Depot. I replaced the shitty shelf on that side:

The guys at Plain an Simple have tossed a few of these in lights recently.........and one of my customers HAD to have it.

Well, long story short, I now have 3 sets of those D2s here and.......well, let the fun begin.

1 set going in a 4th gen quad.

1 set confirmed in the '13s. Just as you see there.

AND.....that last set might be for my '13s. Whenever I get around to it.

I'm sitting here going through orders, scheduling them and getting some on the painter's calendar. Its weird to think that I'm past Easter........on both painter and me.........

Time to take "vacation" from the day job and do up some more lights. Or quit. LOL

you can........but its best to use that harness you got for them. Some of these 4th gens send a pulsed signal to the fogs (mine did!)

Not the same truck. The one in your video is a brown short bed dually conversion and the one I posted is a copper long bed. Mirrors aren't the same either. The guy that owns the copper one is from midland tx and those looked like colorado plates to me. It amazes me tho how many crew cab first gens I've seen lately, I always thought they were pretty rare...guess not

I'm not sure of the numbers but I do know the 4door model was orinally a special order only item for bnsf railroad and another company. So....I'm seriously thinking of making an offer on this truck. It sits on the curb about two streets behind me. I know it runs because it is parked differently occasionally. Lose the bed rack, don't touch the body (other than straigtening the grill and a mirror), put some Torque Thrust II wheels on it, and put something like a 3/5 or 4/6 drop on it.

And yes, the ol' girl works a bit. This is actually the first time I've towed with it...ever. It also had our old counters in the bed, a big train table (kiddo's old thing), and some other random stuff in the bed. Not bad for a 2/4 drop with about 100 pounds in the bed and the trailer.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my stairs. They were showing their age and some of the joints were getting weak. And they were 1980's oak with not so white balusters. I got all the old stuff ripped out last night and got three of the posts set and some of the base plates cut to size. I should be able to get the rest of the posts and the handrails done tonight then paint, stain, and start cutting and installing the new balusters next week, all 65 of them.

I'm going with a dark Mahogany stain and wrought iron balusters. After the stairs are done, the house is getting repainted with darker walls and white trim. I'm going to be a busy bee for a while! I got the baby's room mostly done over the last few weeks. Everything was repainted and a new closet system installed.

Did another small mod on the Jeep. I had the Mopar lug nut locks from the factory and they stuck out much further than the rest of the lug nuts and looked horrible. So, I ordered a set of Gorilla lug nuts. I think they look much cleaner.

She likes it. She still misses the Charger, but admits that the Jeep is the best replacement option for the family truckster. She had gotten used to driving my truck when and actually likes driving it a lot now. Her only complaint is that it's too slow. She's actually in it today while the Jeep is at the dealer.

Well, anyone who has dealt with Moe's Performance before won't be surprised, but I ordered and paid for these Monday at 2pm and they were on my doorstep Tuesday at 3:30. Oh, and I got them for a HELL of a price!

They are 305/40R22s (I currently run 305/45R22s). I stepped down because the truck will be dropping one inch after the new wheels and tires are installed.

Yep, load leveling air bags. I also got the new daystar bag cradles for the bottom mount. The bottom of the bag doesn't bolt to the axle, it just rests in the cradle so I still get full articulation.

Install is complete! Everything went pretty smooth, hardest part was having to unbolt the exhaust from the headers to get clearance for the upper control arm bolt. I took it for a quick drive and the ride is amazing! You still feel the bumps but it's much smoother with no drama. Here's one teaser pic, I'll upload more when I get in front of a computer on Monday.

And Kyle, you need to get off your ass and order this kit!

Thanks guys! This shit wasn't cheap. The shocks, control arms, and springs were about $3300, plus another $345 for the track bar that I already had. It's not cheap by any means but I think it's well worth it.
