so yall starting a legit ram club?

He didn't mean a legit sapulpa chapter. Him and I were jokin around the other day about how we're tryin to get more people from our area on the site and active in the group so that eastern Oklahoma has a little more presence in the group and that way there may be a possibility of some meetups and activities in the Tulsa area in addition to the okc area.

LowRam
02-21-2012, 06:12 PM
I thought just the other day on the kicker bash thread they said they didnt want ORC to be considered like a car or truck club?

Not an 'official' club where there are mandatory meetings and dues and blah blah blah. Just a club of people w/ a common interest in dodge rams who meet up and have a good time when it is convenient and practical. Drama free

OklaHemi
02-21-2012, 06:16 PM

OklaHemi

yeah i have never and would never be a part of a club that required money. common interest club is all.

LowRam
02-21-2012, 06:20 PM
Here's my opinion: I would rather change the name of the site than make this a "club." I've been apart of one before and, in my opinion, it's absurd. Presidents, vice presidents, dues, etc. I"m not one to be told when and where I have to be at what time or whatever.

I think some of you are splitting hairs. No, it's not a traditional club, the name just sounded good. Feel free to give suggestions and I'll whip up a new logo for the top.

heres the thing off kicker bash thread. mot all car and truck club have dues tho. but they said on the thread when we go to kicker we can register as a car club and possibly bring home the club participation award

DoubleTakeDodge
02-21-2012, 06:23 PM
^^^^ Dude I am ALL FOR meetin up and hangin out b4 kicker if y'all want to!! But exactly, We ARE a club in the sense that this is not only a forum but we also have meetups and hang out, but ARE NOT a 'conventional' club in the sense that it costs money, has requirements, and all the drama that seems to follow clubs. Here the only thing that costs is the sticker (which is optional) and hopefully tshhirts and hoodies someday (which will be optional) and the meets are all optional. It's entirely for fun.

DoubleTakeDodge
02-21-2012, 06:25 PM
David meant this is not going to become a club that requires anything of the members. Only a club of people w/ similar interests and requirement free environment. Jerrod was just joking around about a "Sapulpa Chapter" because we are workin on people we know to join the ORC and they all hapen to be from Sapulpa

OklaHemi
02-21-2012, 06:26 PM
Dave is reffering to something like DFWrams where there is money and politics involved. there will be non of that here. i dont understand why people think you have to pay someone to be an official club. is there a national club board that we have to pay dues to with regulations to follow. do we need to meet their annual criteria to call ourselves a club?

yeah but like ORC we just pay Mike and he sends us stickers and Dave and or Matt has a guy that does Tee's so really I would see no point in paying a monthly fee unless we wanted new stickers / apparel every month.

I understand the entry fee's and stuff but how many car shows can you really hit to justify paying a monthly fee.. That's all i'm saying.

LowRam
02-22-2012, 12:09 AM
Ive never bled lines before.. So it may take me awhile to do...

DoubleTakeDodge
02-22-2012, 12:11 AM
Exactly, rather than paying fees and that stuff being covered, we cover it ourselves and individually at the time we want new stuff or when we want to enter a show. It makes more sense to have fees if shows, stickers, and clothes are all mandatory, but in the ORC, EVERYTHING is optional so fees would be ridiculous.

DoubleTakeDodge
02-22-2012, 12:11 AM

man it goes into all kinds of things: cookouts, banners, tents for setting up at shows, some have websites ... it all depends on your club but it's not like you don't see the money back it seems like nobody on here has been in an actual "high quality" club so there is a lot of bad outlook on them (and neither have i) but the few that i have been around there is a real brotherhood too them and they have some sick ass rides .. they push you and help you more than anything i've seen - you can't just roll in with a stock truck with plasti-dipped wheels and expect to get in --- its obviously not everones cup of tea

i'm not trying to talk crap either way lol but in my opinion orc is a forum not a car club .. others can think different tho

LowRam
02-22-2012, 09:14 AM
In away i can see it as a truck club, i mean those mustang clubs you see at kicker do basicly what were doing here.

Matt i know what you mean by this is more like a forum donthold me to this but i think i have seen a few clubs that have forums on there club sites, for their members and fans to follow them. Could you imagie tho if OKCminis people were to register as a club at kicker... Lol

Okiespaniels
02-22-2012, 09:28 AM
I have been in "high quality" clubs in the past that have been quite active, but got burnt out on the politics and back stabbing that ended up doing more harm than good. We were one of those clubs that had all the banners, tents, jackets, everything but a website...there really wasn't a web back then.

Long story short, when the club finally disbanded there were issues over dispersment of monies and inventory. One of the members felt it was handled poorly and tried to sue the officers, which got me involved. People who used to be best friends still don't speak to each other. So you can guess my take on "clubs".

Now I am a member of several forums, and rather than feel tied down, I am free to do as little or as much as I want. One of those forums is quite active at this time...there are regular gtgs, new people are signing on, and those who were involved before and did nothing are still doing exactly that. The drama quotient is pretty low, and people volunteer thier tents and such so theres no inventory, and no monies to worry about.

As far advertising and clothing, the webmasters invest in it and I don't have to deal with it.

I'm not saying clubs are bad, but clubs, by thier very nature, have thier own issues. In a club you will/must be able to work face to face with other people and interact tactfully for the good of the group. I'm not sure that many people used to conversing from the safety of a keyboard are capable of that. I'd love to be proven wrong...

(S.M.R) 101
02-22-2012, 10:32 AM
Back when I had my CBR bike I was in a "High Quality" club that had 28 members and had to pay fees and I dipped out of that... It was not worth what I was paying to be there.. so 7 of us peaced out and just rolled with eachother.

Matt
02-22-2012, 11:18 AM
So Okcminis is a car club? Dodgetalk is a car club? Lol there's nothing wrong with being a forum and having g2g but IMO there are quite a few differences between a car club and a car forum both have pros and cons

LowRam

Exactly. Nobody wants dues or requirements. If it comes to that, I personally will not be sticking around. To call ourselves the ORC we do not have to abide by the rules of what most would consider a 'conventional' or 'real' club. It's a name... That's it. Now those of us who live further east have an opportunity to meet up more. Or at least will as the presence of members our direction continues to increase.

ill see what i can do with the 4 truck idea, our software can do it, but the actual screen printed shirts wouldnt do the artwork justice, the detail just wouldnt be there with what we use, i was thinking something generic just with the oklahoma ram club and shape of oklahoma with the emblem in it like at the top of the page on the front and grab life by the horns on the back, white ink on a black shirt, nothing real fancy but something everyone could afford without alot of trouble to make...

Yeah and I can put names on the back for whoever wants it. So like mine would say whitelightning across the back shoulders. I'm going to make a test shirt after work today and put it up. I'm not proposing anything mandatory or that anyone has to order em but just for whoever wants a shirt with some thing ORC on it for really cheap. The 4 truck idea would be awesome. But for me to do it it wouldn't be practical time or effort wise and I don't want to rip anyone off by charging 40 dollars for a 6 color 8 screen multi emulsion burn setup with half tone designs and with 8 flash dries front and back.

We're actually working on a better logo for the sticker. I'll post it up and you can see what you think of maybe putting it on the shirt instead of the four truck thing. I'm cool with a single color over a single color shirt...like a black shirt with white, or something like that.

BMRbrnSNRbrd
02-23-2012, 02:58 PM
Here's that logo...this is to be the new sticker design on a full face type sticker, not cut out like the current one. The sticker will be everything black and white OTHER than the white background in this pic...in other words the sticker will start at the black but actually be a full, printed sticker:

I can do that easy man. That will look good. White on black. I'll make one up like that and what I was thinking and post em this evening.

So just run a negative on the sticker and put it on a black shirt? (design looks great btw)

Do you want the lettering white or the body of the truck white? I think putting it on a black shirt just the way it is would look the best

Thats what I was thinking. Black shirt. I could also take the web address out and instead put it on back in the same font.

That will look good. And I was thinking the same thing. I can remove it on our software.

Works for me buddy. If you have any questions and such, feel free to text or call me (I'll pm my number in a minute.)

That font is not a stock font. It's called "Bleeding Cowboy" but I modified it myself.
