Default New Bike

As many of you know, my Dad passed away a few weeks ago and I have inherited his bike. I picked it up from OKC this Sunday and trailered it home, since it hasn't been riden since last summer I didn't want to risk riding all the way home on it. It needs a little work, a tune up, and a thorough cleaning but overall it's in excellent shape for a 15 year old bike. It's a 96 Honda Shadow ACE 1100 with only 6,820 miles on it. Here are a couple of pics as it sits now.

Great bike. Have you ridden before or is this your first bike?

This is my first bike. I used to ride my old room mate's Ninja, but that's of course nothing like this big bike. I have already taken the written portion of the test and will need to take the riding portion after I get some seat time. A guy I work with has been begging me to get a bike, so we will finally get to do some riding.

Man if you pull that rear seat and sissy bar and clean it up it will look great.

I thought about that, but not sure how the paint underneath looks since it was factory installed. I should have some time today after work to start cleaning it up.

Thanks guys! I cleaned up the bike after work today and changed the plugs. It starts way easier and runs great! I took it around neighborhood for a few miles and love it already! Didn't want to go far since I have an expired tag and no insurance....

That sounds like a fun job! I would definitely like to take a MSF course next spring.

Here are a few pics after cleaning it up a little last night. I changed the plugs and it starts and runs much better now. Still need to drain the old gas and dump in some carb cleaner. I did take it a few miles around the neighborhood last night and it rides great.

I also too the sissy bar off and I think it looks a little cleaner. I was going to take the rear seat off too but it's going to need the fender repainted to make it look good so it will stay on.
