Verizon Galaxy S3
Kyle, this is for you, and anyone else who might have a Verizon Galaxy S3 phone. I just rooted and rom'd mine and so far so good. Running the Synergy rom for now.
This link is how to root. There's a video walk through that helps a lot and makes it almost impossible to screw up. Just a few files to download and take less than 10 minutes. You have two options for custom recoveries (Step 5), CWM and TWRP, the TWRP is supposed to be much better and is what I'm using.

And here's the Rom that I'm currently running. I've only been rooted for about 10 minutes but I like it so far.

I'm getting the Note 2 tomorrow... Anything that works on the S3 will work on the Note right?

As far as apps from the market, yes. As far as rooting and roming, you'll have to use stuff that's specific to that phone, roms and other hacks are phone and carrier specific. Even a Verizon and AT&T Galaxy S3 will have different roms and are not interchangeable. XDA-Forums is a great source.
I really like the Note, but damn it's big!

I'll have to check it out once I get it.
And I know, that's what's so great about it!

Sweet! I'd start the rom download first, it's a much larger file. Once you get it rooted, your rom should be about downloaded.

I agree with Morgan. My rom download was HUGE and took forever.

Morgan, how do you like the "kitchen" thing? I tried to find a rom with that included for my TMO GS3 but couldn't find one.

I have no idea. I believe its something like the app store but instead has mods for the rom. I know there is a rom for the i9300 GS3 called OMEGA (I want it so bad) that has it.
