on the hunt
been hunting for another first gen ever since I tore my 92 apart, so my buddy calls me out to look at a non intercooled 89 on his property.
its got 66k original miles, 727tf 3 speed auto, and 3.55 gears. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/...psb26c97b2.jpg the body is the best ive seen on a non restored 1st gen, ive heard the truck run before, its been a few years tho... the front brakes are seized up from sitting. and the trans is on a fresh rebuild. it seems for everything bad there seems to be somthin good to balance it out. he wants 4k for it, I'd like to have it to pull scrap metal with so im not tearing up my V10. but 4k seems a little steep for something sinkin in the soil. what do ya'll think? |

I would say $4k sounds ok if it could get itself out of the field. Maybe $3k?
|
4k seems to be his bottom dollar. but that also includes a new turbo with intercooler and such in that price.

Oh, well, I didn't know that before.
It seems this truck is to you what my future first gen (square body) S10 will be. I really don't care about cosmetics, as long as the body is fairly straight and doesn't have cancer eating holes through the panels. Consider what that truck could be for about $5k. $4k to purchase it, new brakes on all four corners, a new set of tires, and a little TLC could have a nice 1st gen Cummins. |
Considering the age, it looks to be in pretty good shape. Any hidden rust anywhere? Looks like there is some rust on the drivers door. I think as long as the cab isn't rusting out that's not a terrible price.
|
the cab is solid, just minor rust over the bed in typical dodge fashion. I think some sanding and rattle cans with a good clear coat can bring this thing back to damn good lookin.
yes u can clear over rattle cans I worked at a body shop lol |
how long exactly has it been sitting there?
|
still think 4k is too much money ..
