Next project - need shop recommendations
Normally I like to wait until a project is at least underway until I start talking about it, but this one won't happen until next year and I need recommendations on a shop that can do it.
I want to do something with the hood and don't really like anything out there. I could see spending the kind of money companies ask for them if I was absolutely in love with a hood, but most of them are gaudy and fiberglass at that. What I want to do is find a shop that will take my hood and increase the height of the cowl. I don't want a bunch of fiberglass, so they will have to weld the section in. I have a guy who can paint and do the filler work, but I don't trust his welding skills for this. Obviously it is going to have to be a solid job since the hood moves so often and sometimes (not by me) gets shut hard. Anyone know of a shop in central OK that can pull it off? |
That would look great! Keep in mind that the hood is thin aluminum...

Yeah, that's a good point.

I like the sound of your idea... i like itd look sick!!
|
Love the idea. Still haven't heard back from my cousin Dave.
I didn't think about the hood being aluminum.. |
2013 2500 front clip? Your flares would look better then... ;)

Aluminum hood? Last good welder I knew charged about 75 bucks a foot to tig weld aluminum, and that was on a boat. No warpage.
I hope you find someone...but I would start by talking to boat shops or marinas. |
wow i didnt' know the hoods were aluminum
|
Only the 1500s. The HDs are steel.

I know a guy that knows a welder. I can talk to him for you because I need some metal work done as well.
