(S.M.R) 101 02-13-2012 03:16 AM

hahaha... Oh I hear ya.. the tank on this 2012 is massive to the other tank the 08 had.. it's like $130 to fill up from dead empty.. but I do run 89 octain in it tho..

myoung84 02-13-2012 09:27 AM

Sweet! Yeah, the big tank sucks to fill up...

DoubleTakeDodge 02-13-2012 09:50 AM

Yeah, But you can go alot furthr without fillin up too!

myoung84 02-13-2012 09:52 AM

Not in my case... I have about the same range in the wagon as I did in my old truck, just takes 34 gallons instead of 26...

LowRam 02-13-2012 09:52 AM

Yeah man, I really like it. For a lifted 2nd gen on 35"s it has surprisingly tight steering and the tires make a very little amount of noise even at highway speeds.

myoung84 02-13-2012 10:09 AM

I got my best mileage yesterday with 87 octane 100% gas and it was a whopping 13.5, according to the computer which has been pretty close. This was about 100 miles of highway driving at about 70 mph... Before that with 89 octane ethanol blend I was getting about 11 mpg with mixed driving. I think the big change was due to the 100% non-ethanol gas.

Yeah, I ran ethanol free gas whenever i could in my other truck. it did make a difference. you could tell a pretty fair difference from 87 w/ ethanol to ethanol free 91.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 02-13-2012 11:23 AM

Dude, that first pic is MONEY. Truck is very nice.

DoubleTakeDodge 02-13-2012 11:53 AM

Haha thanks man!! I was just driving down Hwy 51 headed back to school and saw it in passing but had already passed the driveway to it so i put her down in 4x4 and went through the ditch lol. Wish I woulda had my camera and not just my cell phone to take the pic!

Keep the tires rotated and balanced and you wont have a problem. The front tires will cup if you don't and then it will sound like you have a set of TSL's on it and there is nothing you can do about it until it's time for a new set.

As for the gas gauge, you probably need a new sending unit. Unplug it at the tank as see if it drops to "E" If it does then it's the sending unit, if not it's the gauge.

If it's the sending unit then it will probably be easier to pull the bed than to drop the tank.

DoubleTakeDodge 02-13-2012 12:11 PM

yeah, replacing the fuel pump is no big deal. I've done it twice before. 6 or 8 bolts and remove the bed lol. easy enough. but i was surprised at how little the tires wine because of the agressiveness of the tread. and very little play in the steering wheel. no shimmy or vibration. not at all what i expected from this truck. just made me that much happier lol. and it still has the original dash w/ no cracks! all it needs is a deep cleaning and a cupholder

ramthis9501 02-13-2012 06:13 PM

Very nice! Does it have the 5.9 motor?

916Timmy 02-13-2012 07:37 PM

^^^^ Same from me!!!

318 or 360???

DoubleTakeDodge 02-13-2012 08:18 PM

Yeah, I'm happy to show anyone who wants to see it. It's gotta 360. Plenty powerful and gets around great in mud and snow ;)

OU Hemi 02-14-2012 11:14 AM

i vote nay lol

Okiespaniels 02-20-2012 09:50 AM

Green and...ORANGE?

It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown...rising from the pumpkin patch, jumping in his big dodge ram and deliverng presents to all the good boys and girls!

No... thats the colors of the now defunct Great Northern Railroad back in the 50s or early 60's....so you could be the great Northern Dodge

BMRbrnSNRbrd 02-20-2012 10:37 AM

Not a big fan of the orange accents, but I understand you Pokes want to slap orange on everything... :D

DoubleTakeDodge 02-20-2012 11:22 AM

Well i'm not gonna do chrome everywhere as I don't like the look. Won't do red because I don't want a christmas truck (and I sure don't wanna be mistaken as a sooner fan!! haha jk! ;) ). But I do Kinda want some Higher contrast accents. I mean I do really like orange lol. But it was alot easier to choose accent colors on a white truck! lol

Hahaha I'm avoiding green and red because i don't wanna be ol' St. Nick lol

BMRbrnSNRbrd 02-20-2012 12:03 PM

Well, I have to admit that I have a sick love for your new truck. It reminds me of the Ram version of the truck the main character drove in the remake of "Walking Tall." He drove a Ford, but it had that classic, clean, lifted truck look (and it was green, lol.) Every time I see that pic of your truck under your signature it makes me want to add a second gen to the lineup.....even though my wife said no.

I was thinking about it last night and I don't think a color matched grill would look good, but I don't think black would either since the green is so dark already. Personally I love the chrome wheels and thenk they tie in well with the grill. If it were my truck, I wouldn't worry about accent colors. I would rock her as is.

DoubleTakeDodge 02-20-2012 12:11 PM

Yeah, I'm not de-chroming like i did last time. I'm keeping the chrome grille, the box (it will shine when i get the time to polish it), the stainless wheels, and chrome bumpers. Although i may try and find a black lower bumpercover instead of grey. I'm going to have the rocker panels lined. still haven't decided if i'm gonna do grey to match the lower cover and provide more contrast or black because it'll show less dirt etc. Right now she is completely de-badged but i kinda like the 2500 badges. But the were all paint chipped and nasty so they needed some work. I'm glad ya like it though! I'm gettin to where I like it.. Just feels like I'm drivin somebody else's truck right now.

LowRam 02-20-2012 12:14 PM

i also would rock it as is. from your sig pic all id do is debadge it, maybe do chrome head and taillights. hmm possibly steel bumbers idk..
