Involuntary mod soon
Looks like I'll be ordering a higher stall torque converter soon. I've now felt mine slip twice. It typically happens when I back out of the driveway, put the truck in Drive, and then start to accelerate. I can feel it slipping for a moment before it finally locks up. I tried to make an appointment to take mine in under the 3/36 but I'm at 35,700 as of this morning and they can't get me in until the 10th...damn.

Good and bad news.... You should like the new TC though.

Like Morgan said, Good and Bad news.
|
They should still cover that under warranty........they can "clear" the overage on miles due to the circumstance.
But, a new one would be spiffy too. |
Didn't think of this til now but that should be covered under the 100k power train warranty...

Very true Morgan!
|
Thank you Morgan...I didn't think of that either.
|
Bad news that its mandatory but at least you have the option of going with a better option!
|
I wouldn't want them to replace crap with crap....They aren't too bad. I found a guy that does drag cars that woul swap convertors for 250.
|
Is it really so hard that it couldn't be done yourself? The only issue I see would be getting enough space under the truck to drop the transmission and then finding a way to lift it back into place.

Long extension, floor jack piece of 2x4, easy. Iv done tranny swaps from on the concrete in a shop to in a buddies yard

Anything is possible! 4 of those wheel ramps would be money for a trans drop

You've done practically everything yourself on that truck... Might as well get familiar with the transmission to lol
