Okiespaniels 06-18-2013 08:41 PM

Disco strobes with a mirror ball? Cooool!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-18-2013 08:42 PM

Dude, my current work and school schedule has me leaving the house from 4am to 830 or 930 pm Mon-Thurs. With work Sunday mornings, I only have 2.5 days to do anything, including household stuff that needs to be done (laundry, mowing, car maintenance, etc.) I plan on getting to them when I have the time.

0212353 06-18-2013 08:47 PM

tease.

(S.M.R) 101 06-18-2013 09:30 PM

Cannot wait to see what the outcome will be dude.

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-24-2013 06:40 AM

Alright, so my original idea is not going to work...the tails were just too tough to open and save the clear lenses. Now I have another idea going that some people think is actually better.

(S.M.R) 101 06-24-2013 12:57 PM

Hell..... yes...... dude!

916Timmy 06-24-2013 07:23 PM

I say sheet metal the tail light openings and go all out frenched in LEDs!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-25-2013 06:52 AM

Uh, no. I was never a big fan of the '90s.

(S.M.R) 101 06-25-2013 08:14 AM

Rock the corvette lights in the bumper? Come on dude..... that shit is straight pimp

THIS!!!! Need the corvette lights in the roll pan ;)

myoung84 06-25-2013 09:37 AM

Dave, you put Vette lights in the rollpan and I'm going to personally key your truck. ;)

DoubleTakeDodge 06-25-2013 10:58 AM

Hahaha. I have seen some trucks that full the tail light holes and just rock a taillight bar under the tailgate. That can give a truck a really clean look. But a pair of actually custom tail lights is something you rarely see

myoung84 06-25-2013 11:46 AM

So bad ass! You should do 6 exhaust tips though. 6 is definitely faster than 4.

DoubleTakeDodge 06-25-2013 12:22 PM

Ha! I've never seen a whole vette rear end on a truck lol

Really? You are from Oklahoma, right?

(S.M.R) 101 06-25-2013 05:51 PM

HAHAHAHA...... That is so sick.... Like Morgan said, 6 tips.... because 6 is faster then 4 :D

0212353 06-25-2013 09:09 PM

why stop at 6?

Haha I am from Oklahoma! And I've seen tons of vette rollpans too. But everyone where I'm from is either too poor to I with a whole vette rear end or has the common decency not to do that to their poor truck! haha

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-26-2013 12:37 PM

Fair enough.

Just to let everyone know what I'm ACTUALLY doing: I originally purchased a full set of led tails with clear lenses (yes, the type that look like they belong on the back of a Civic) with the intention of separating them. I separated them, but the lenses cracked and are now worthless. I also have a second full set of OEM tails that I have separated successfully. My original plan was to paint the OEM buckets to match my headlights and then put the clear lenses on them. Obviously I can't do that now because the clear lenses are trashed.

So, my new idea: When I'm done I will have a set of tails that are LED with OEM lenses on them. I'm also tinting the OEM lenses on the inside so that they will maintain a stock glossy finish (without the hassle of having to clear, wetsand, buff, etc) and therefore cannot be scratched or start to wear due to weather conditions. I'm also going to add one other custom detail that will have to be a surprise, assuming I like it enough to keep it.

DoubleTakeDodge 06-26-2013 01:06 PM

I like that idea alot. Too bad your original plan didn't turn out, I really wanted to see the finished product but I can't wait to see the new plan when it's done!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-27-2013 07:05 AM

Here are the OEM lenses laying on top of the LED buckets. They match up great! Now I just have to tint the lenses and install the other stuff.

DoubleTakeDodge 06-27-2013 10:14 AM

Hmmm.... I'm still curious as to "the other stuff"... I have an idea but I feel it's pretty unlikely lol

(S.M.R) 101 06-27-2013 10:25 AM

It's going to be awesome!

Have a guess? I'll tell you if you're right.

myoung84 06-27-2013 11:08 AM

You're doing an octagonal exhaust setup right? One pipe from each cylinder? Haha

ramthis9501 06-27-2013 12:11 PM

That's going to look pretty damn cool!

DoubleTakeDodge 06-27-2013 01:30 PM

HID Reverse lights?? lol

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-27-2013 02:44 PM

I've had those for over a year now.

DoubleTakeDodge 06-27-2013 05:40 PM

Oh really? Well then never mind!

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-29-2013 09:56 PM

Alright, the cat is coming out of the bag because I need help. Some people like this and some don't, for various reasons.

Build specs:

EBay LED tails
OEM lenses lightly tinted internally
The original LED bank will be used for brakes and signals only.
The strips will be the running lights

these are the two configurations that are available based on the available strip lengths and space.

Thoughts?

Keep in mind these were not completely stuck and the final setup will be straight and not wavy.

Okiespaniels 06-29-2013 10:16 PM

Works for me. Very Unique looking which I respect...although I'll miss the strobes and disco balls... :)

0212353 06-29-2013 10:40 PM

ok.......

Looking further back, and with the tint.......

The reverse C looks spiffy. ;)

BMRbrnSNRbrd 06-29-2013 10:40 PM

I'll try to find a disco ball just for you Al.

myoung84 06-29-2013 11:05 PM

The C looks pretty sweet. Not really feeling the L...

(S.M.R) 101 06-29-2013 11:10 PM
