Thumbs down. :favorites68:

I called to check on my wheels today since it was the end of the week, this is what i was told. "The sandblasting is tearing off the metal in chunks and we dont have the time to fix it. Come get you wheels, take them somewhere to get sand blasted and smoothed out and we will still powder coat them for you but at a discount." WTF, so now I have one completely sandblasted wheel and three chrome ones and my center caps and other wheel accents at the paint shop. Fuck my luck. I am going to go to broken arrow powder coating on monday to see if they can help. I didnt use them first because TPC beat their price and they were recommended to me. That is what I get for trying to save money.

I always thought they were supposed to use media blast stuff so that out won't damage aluminum

Like walnut shell? That is what I would have thought would been used

Shoulda used BAPC in the first place. They regularly do aluminum wheels and I have seen thier work.
Haven't heard anything good about TPC
Hopefully BAPC will do you right.

when i called the guy at bapc he was reluctant to do it.

I suppose since they are chrome clad it may be an issue. You nay have to find someone that specializes in media blasting and can remove chrome.
Wierd...he did some chrome pieces for me (not aluminum) and they came out grea
BAPC is not cheap either! :(

OklaHemi

It wasn't really we messed up, it was more we bit off more than we care to chew and now we are spitting it out. The one they did looks decent but they didn't finish.

Sorry to hear that bud. I know its no compensation, but the nice thing about this forum is that its all local, so knowing about a bad business may actually help other members.

This sucks to hear! BAPC did great on my bumpers. If I ever get my wheels done, I will let them do it.

I know they did Morgan, but like I said he was reluctant to do it when I called.

Al I called a media blaster place, they quoted me 200.00 a wheel and told me I should just buy new ones.

I never knew refinishing a wheel was such a chore

Well, after a trip to BAPC and a trip to my local painters I am looking for new wheels. The guys at BAPC said that once the chrome starts chipping they are trashed. the reason they can do Morgans bumpers is that they were in perfect shape. The powder coat wont "etch" once it has started chipping. I have been told by 3 different people I have to get new wheels. So I guess plastidip to the rescue until I can recover from the recent home renovations chrissy sprung on me. Frownie Face.

Plastidip will be good for now so you can come down here Friday!

No, I can't realistically expect them to after talking to the guys at BAPC. The wheel was fucked when the chrome chipped. They should have known better than to touch it, I should have known better than to take them there. I guess enthusiasm isn't always a good thing. Everyone I have talked to has said once the chrome is chipping the wheels are ruined. The search can officially start but what, chrome again, black.... It took me almost 6 months to decide on a wheel style the last two times I bought wheels for a Ram

Try to find some black chrome wheels that you like.

OklaHemi

I am the worst when it comes to picking out wheels. I liked them initially, but once I started looking at the installed I didnt like them anymore. I think I am going to go with the Incubus Shylocks(five spoke Foose knock offs) for now but the search continues. It will be next Friday before I buy so that may change.... I have never asked for opinions on wheels before since its one of the more personal thing to me but at this point I NEED help. I dont know if I should go chrome or murder my truck out. Also if any of you have seen any wheels that are just awesome to you let me know, thanks

Black chrome or chrome...EVERYONE sticks black wheels on a black truck and, IMHO, lose some "personality" when they do it.

LowRam
03-15-2012, 03:03 PM
id probably go with a chrome since your truck is gloss black, i like black on black when its flat black rather than gloss IMO
