Got the Vararam in today and my first impression was that it's HUGE. I couldn't believe the size of the box it came in and then the unit itself is enormous.

Took longer to install than I thought it would but I went a little further on the install by not only removing the factory air box but also it's mounting bracket. It freed up a TON of space on the passenger side...so much so that I'm debating getting some air horns to install in that area.

Box and un-packaging:

Before with all the factory stuff:

Installed (BTW, it's not crooked anymore, I adjusted it some more):

The now completely open passenger side (sorry for the blurriness...it was dark and cold):

The stuff I wasn't so happy with...the unit does seem a bit flimsy when mounted, but I think it's because the only area that it's actually attached is to the throttle body via a silicone hose...I'm debating fabbing up something to more solidly mount it.

The only other thing is that it made my hood harder to close, but I'm sure that's due to the gasket along the top that actually seals the unit against the hood and will most likely get easier with time.

Talk about the "nostalgia look". Thats pretty nice.

Is that a paper or cotton filter element?

Very nice....It doesn't move when the hood is closed...only when it's open.

It's a cotton, re-usable filter.

Did it make your hood harder to close Timmy?

I noticed you didn't put the shroud piece back on the top of yours...any plans to notch it and re-install it?

I forgot to mention that I will be two-toning the lid mineral gray and black with a "Hemi" badge also.

I also got my grill back today and it looks AMAZING. I'll hopefully get pics tomorrow.

Like getting rid of plans or paint plans?

Lips are sealed!
And mine does make the hood slightly harder to close...it's supposed to do that :)

I'm actually thinking of finding a way to move the horns and their bracket for better air flow.

That would be easy with all that extra room...just some simple wiring!

Very little and all with the mobile acceleration control present...i.e. the wife riding shotgun.

I'm still thinking about this..........do I want one, do I need it, lol

I don't have time to mod the truck.
