Plastidipped my entire grille and then painted and cleared the surround. Looks great!! Gonna mount it and post pics tomorrow! All I have left to "de-chrome" is headlights and exhaust tips! Plans for black-back projectors or nightrunner style housings for the headlights and either high heat paint for the exhast tips or having them powedercoated with my wheels in a few weeks..

Looks great! Did you use spray paint on top of plastidip?

Yes'r. i but a full base coat of plastidip on the entire grille. Then taped it off and layed down white then clear on the surround. The paint on top of the plastidip allows it to be peeled off just as easily while leaving the original finish in tact.

How well do you think it will hold up? I ordered two cans of white plastidip and the glossyfier to do my grille.

Thus far it seems like it does pretty well. but i havent hardly driven since i did it. If it doesn't do well i'll make sure and post it on here to avoid anyone else wasting money.

Looks nice! lots of people on here use plasti dip, i never have yet but they do rims, interior and all kinds of stuff. I have only heard good things about it! i may have to give it a try! also havent seen many people that keep chrome on there truck either lol, as for me i still am unsure about keeping chrome on mine

If your going to black out your truck then black it out. No chrome!

still unsure if i want to black out my truck. im pretty sure i want to. but Im hoping to see one thats already blacked out before i do mine so i know what it will look like. like black headlights tail lights and paint job. then dont know if i want flack black or gloss black...

honestly blacking everything out is getting way played out to me ... i like it and my truck is blk/blk but damn it's like everyone is doing it .. the next wheels i buy are going to be chrome .. well i'm atleast 85% sure at this point lol

Plastidip does work great! It's an incredibly inexpensive way to try out something new without it being permanent. I have it on my rims right now and it has held up without trouble at all. Just used it to confirm my plans to powder coat them. And Matt, I am personally going for the "stormtrooper" color scheme which requires all pieces to be either painted white or blacked out. So in that respect I agree with Colton on if you're goin black, black it all out.
