i've already started this way back when but i'm going to try and finish it up soon now that the weather has chilled a bit so i'm going to run a log

putting this sub in my truck 9510 with a full dry carbon fiber cap ...

powerbass 3000d (3krms@1ohm) and a matching 460 watt 4 channel

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/ebbeb391.jpg

2 stinger deep cycles

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/174fd381.jpg

so the sub is super deep and i wasn't going to have a ton of clearance from the seat to the sub but enough since the bottom of the seat can be pushed in quite a bit but......

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/f668297d.jpg

after not really working on it for a few months i decided to try to finish it up the other day and was looking at it and just wasn't happy with how it sat in there so i grabbed a sledge hammer and beat the cubby pocket where the magnet was hitting it and pushed it out so the sub would set lower and cut a hole in the mold and then fiberglassed a bump into it -- just in case you're wondering its VERY strong lol i used probably more fiberglass than i needed and then laid a layer of dynaglass over it
so then i put it back in and just started trying to imagine where everything is going i picked up a set of powerbass amps a 3000d for the sub and a 450 watt for the mids/highs and i have 2 stingers i wanted to put in as well, well after kind of laying some stuff out i figured out a plan and cut the ridiculously thick rear insulation off the back wall and i'm going to mount the 2 amps to the wall with a sheet of mdf inbetween i already had a gap between the seat and the padding now there's tons of room between the back of the seat and the amps so cooling shouldn't be too big of an issue and then decided to put the batteries in the middle of the hump so i cut the mold and sat the batteries there but then they were on a pretty steep angle and the back of the batteries were hitting the seat so i took out the bfh again and pushed down the metal to make the batteries sit even ... i still got about a day left in it and when it's not so damn hot i'll probably knock it out soon

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/e166c8ab.jpg

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/df2b6f9a.jpg

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/2e1ff1b1.jpg

you can see now i have WAYY more clearance from the sub to the seat

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/dacf2247.jpg

still have a lot of trimming on the mold and then building the frame up around it i don't know if i'm going to cut mdf and join them at angles to make the curves or if i'm going to try and use a single piece of mdf and kerf it .. we'll see

have since done deadener on the entire floor and the back wall including the cubbies i can't seem to find the pictures ... and i'm also debating what i'm wanting to do the doors and i think i figured it out tonight ... i already have infinity kappas in the doors running on a 4 channel and i LOVEE hardcore kickbass especially in rock so i want to beef that up and then overall make it a little louder so i'm going to build a door pod where the door pockets are and smooth it out where the crease is to the door and cover that in black suede... the pods will be built out of fiberglass and a little wood but will house 3 6 1/2's per side 2 kicker compvt's and i'm not sure what i'm going to do for components i might pick up a set of kicker qs series ... they sound great ....

your bfh gave your box a tumor lol. the magnet on that thing is huge. the door panels are going to be kick ass or kicker ass. so we are looking at 6000 rms for the subs that is going to be awesome.

lol right? ... yeah it's iike 340oz if i remember right? ... they should sound awesome when done hopefully .... 3000 rms for the 1 10, about 600 rms for the 4 6.5 subs and about 450 watts rms for the 4 door speakers and whatever 6.5 i decide to run in the front so a solid 4k and still seating for 6 lol i couldve put buckets in the rear and did a crazy console but i wanted it fairly stock

Damn dude, you don't do anything small do you?

no and it's getting old lol my name is matt and i have a problem -- you should've seen some of my other cars lol

That looks like you stuck a tennis ball in as you were glassing.

Matt
09-09-2011, 12:37 PM
that's just the texture / color of glass and resin i actually used a balloon inside another balloon so it wouldn't pop lol once i got it exactly where i wanted then i tape it on the inside and started laying glass over it lol you gotta use something easy to get out just incase you can't remove it haha

got cha. for some reason i misread your post and saw "i picked up a set of powerbass amps" and though you were doing two subs. i guess i should read slower lol. none the less that is going to be amazing once it is complete.

Matt
09-09-2011, 02:55 PM
yeah don't have THAT much room for 2 lol ....

Matt

excuse the tape lol i'm trying to find a leak ... laid deadener on the entire floor all the way from the firewall back and then did the back wall ... i'm going to have 4 amps on the back wall so i've gotta figure out placement it'll be tricky but should work

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/ecu_chevy_guy/dodge/IMG_0727-1.jpg

this is esssentially how the box will fit ... i was just checking clearances .. the top baffle will rest on the bottom of the seat like this however the sub will be atleast 3/4 but probably 1.5" from the top baffle so i doesn't touch the bottom of the seat when going full tilt 2 batteries will be in the middle

i dont mind where my amps are located but i would like to move them into the bed of the truck with a tonneau. that is going to be a lot of heat behind that seat are you going to run a couple of fans?

Matt
09-22-2011, 08:10 PM
yes sir ... and the amps that i have dont' get too warm as it is so i should be good ...

gonna run a
powerbass 3000 for the sub
powerbass 4 (460watts) channel running 8 b1 tweets
alpine v-12 2 (600watts) channel running 4 of the w6.5 midbass
alpine v-12 4 (600watts) channel running the 8 vo mids

for each of the front doors going to run:
dd vo 8" mid in the 6x9 spot
then i'm making a pod for the bottom of the door that will hold
2 dd w6.5 which are SUPER beefy midbass
1 dd vo6.5 which are very loud and clear
2 dd b1 supertweeters

each of the rear doors:
dd vo 6.5 in the stock spot
dd vo 6.5 in a pod at the bottom
2 dd b1 super tweeters

and then the 3.5 dash speakers will run off the head unit just for a little fill and well.. bc i already have them wired like that lol

so if you're counting that's 24 speakers in a quad cab and only 1 being a sub ... i've gotten bored in the car audio scene so i'm wanting to do something crazy and honestly except for the sub stage it's actually budget minded i already had most of the equipment and i'm not spending a ton on what i'm running all things considering

holy hell that is a lot of speakers. im excited to hear it all running

Matt
09-22-2011, 11:40 PM
me too ... the only thing i am NOT looking forward to is running that damn wire through the door boots lol funny thing is i only have 7 speakers now and 1 amp and it's almost loud enough as it is but just gonna go over the top

figured i should actually finish this thing

well i guess it wasn't THAT bad but still sucked turns out you the boots aren't pass throughs but actual plugs on the cab side so i had to make my own holes in the rear and use a factory grommet in the front ... will be covering with wire loom when i get back to work btw .... i had to run 3 wires into the front door (tweets, mids, midbass) and 2 for the rear (tweets, mids) i decided to do it the right way and run them into the factory harness so un bolted the seat and pulled up the carpet i'm using all kicker wiring 0ga back to the 2/3rd batteries and 16 ga for all the mids/highs

gonna try to finish laying out all my wires and pre-wiring for the 5 amps so i can put my carpet back in this weekend ...

both front amps for under the dr/pass seats are pre-wired just missing a ground and i can do that when i cut the carpet to run the wires through 0ga is ran to the back 4ga ran to the front 2 amps and will run to the other 2 in the back with 0ga running to the big one all my rca's are ran and i used kicker XI series cables and hyperflex speaker/power wire i finished laying the deadener down and doubled it up on all the flat spaces where your feet rest and used pieces to keep my wiring clean and laid out where i want it

and bc i ran all the wiring the way i did it does not look near as much as what's actually in there ... i have over 120 feet of speaker wire alone almost 100 feet of rca's and about 50 feet of power wire between inside and what i used for the big 3 upgrade ... it's crazy
